after my first run I have realized...its stinks!

Ok..so after my 3 mile run last night, which was NOT easy, I realized that this is gonna be even harder than I thought. I don't have the patience for endurance running. I got done with the first mile pretty easily, but thought to myself that this was taking WAYYYY too long. So I increased my speed. Well that tired me out before mile 2 was even up so I had to slow it down again but then my impatience took over once again and I increased the speed again. By the end of it I was more than pooped. I understand that a steady pace will win the race, but running is horribly boring! Tomorrow I have to run another 3 miles. I appreciate the day of rest from running, maybe I can find some sort of exercise to increase my patience. Anybody have suggestions on what to listen to while running? Last night I didnt listen to anything and I dont know if I can stand 13 miles of just listening to myself think.

OH! I did learn a helpful fact instead of concentrating on breathing in, concentrate on your breath out. The reason cramps in your side occur is because carbon monoxide builds up in your body from not breathing out enough. Or something like that.

If anyone has any helpful tips I would appreciate them. Although my first run sucked, the proud look on Billys face when I finished was priceless, so I must continue. Peace and love everyone! Wish me luck on my next 3 mile run!
